This is Forward Starboard watch. There are 8 of us – Rachael, Emily, Katie, Clare, Joanne, Kirsten, me (Jennifer) and Sue our watch leader. We left Aberdeen yesterday at about 12 noon to head north to Peterhead. There was quite a good breeze but there was a big swell (this proved to cause a lot of seasickness). Watch leaders Rachael and Alex did not suffer, Rachael enjoyed taking photos while her fellow watch leaders were very ill over the side of the boat. Some have been issued with sick bags Sue has been named bob the bag. In the afternoon we got cake as it was Clare’s birthday J There were a lot of people feeling ill and at dinner only about 15 people sat down to eat but after the first mouthful this went down to about 10. After dinner the Peterhead lifeboat came along side to practise exercises of dropping people onto a vessel. They then started doing man overboard right beside the ship which caused a lot of wash (this was not good for people who weren’t feeling well). Our watch started at 8pm and finished at 12midnight. Lucky for Clare, she was on ‘Mess Duty’ and was able to sleep the whole night! Sue was not able to help with this watch as she was really ill. During the watch it was still really bright even at 12 o’clock. We saw some dolphins, which swam past us and then swam back up the other side of the boat. We all got a chance to steer the boat. Just before the end of the watch we anchored for the night as the wind died.
