30/05/2009 - Tenacious

Dated: 30/05/2009

Tenacious graced the shores of Wicklow with her presence this morning following her arrival to anchorage on Friday evening in a very dense fog.

Our passage north to Dublin commenced with a skillful sail off from the anchorage.  We then took in brilliant sunshine under a cloudless sky giving opportunity for some serious sail setting in a moderate south easterly breeze.

To some our progress north may have seemed a little slow but we were able to take in some spectacular Irish scenery.  We were also given a lesson in seamanship by Captain John who guided Tenacious through Dalkey Sounds a very narrow passage between the mainland and Lamb island  (the island is famous for its bird sanctuary).

We were greeted at Lamb by a flottila of yachts and boats of all sizes, a harbour porpoise and a sail boarder who had difficulty in keeping balance.

We then made our approach to Dublin under the direction of Capt John and Sean Kavanagh at the helm. Angela also took part in the entrance to Dublin Docks and the final maneuvers to our berth.

Tomorrow will be a day of rest and recuperation, and much merriment amidst the many tall ships in Dublin for their maritime festival. More later in the week.
