Last Voyage of the Season draws to an end On Thursday the ship weighed anchor and then motored round towards Cowes picking up a person with a Cowes Pilotage license (Neil Duncan who works on board as captain /mate.)
Once safely alongside Trinity pier it was time to do some nice harbour stows. Then shore leave to let people wander around the Isle of Wight some of the mad youngsters went swimming!!!!!! I don’t think they realised it was the end of October.
Friday morning saw everyone up bright and early stowing their bags and moving them to the bar. Captain John Etheridge gave his debrief in the lower mess this was followed by a presentation of a large cake to celebrate Nick Pilgrim’s 55th voyage on board and the 54000 sea mile that he has clocked up. Well done Nick. The ship was then got ready to leave... Going up the Solent saw a last minute burst of happiness and scrubbing the decks prior to smuncheon. Then safely alongside in Southampton only to be asked to move the ship to another berth. Eventually the voyage crew were safely on their way home.
Saturday saw a catching up day and starting to get the ship ready for a long ship. Sunday brought the wind and rain, but people still came to look around during open ship.
