30/12/2008 - Tenacious

Dated: 30/12/2008

Dropped anchor at Gomera overnight. All of us in Bill's aft port watch were on the 8 - 12 watch. We had great fun donning oversized yellow PVC waterproofs with sexy blue wellies to match. Our watch was wet and by the end we all had a distinctive wet and wild look about us, but wetter was to come! As the morning progressed, so the rain fell harder, the waves rose, and force nine gales arrived. . For some of us adrenaline junkies it was the best sailing we had done (though, those reading this back on dry land may think we are complete mad!!)

We have now arrived in Tenerife to a glorious day, tied the sails and are waiting for the New Years Eve celebrations to begin.

However before I sign off there is one further member of the voyage crew you have yet to meet. He is tall and slim, likes red and white clothes and now has a bit of a bend thanks to an unwanted attack by a bosuns mate who will remain un-named!

He goes by the name of Stanley and is the mobility/guiding cane belonging to Susannah. Sadly the rest of the ships crew is now also calling Stanley by his name. Furthermore Stanley has made friends with another cane called Geoffrey. They were last seen sparring with each other on the quayside.

Madness has taken over so we will end here and go and enjoy the highlights of Santa Cruz, Tenerife.

Happy New Year!!!

Susannah and Nancy
