31/01/2009 - Tenacious

Dated: 31/01/2009

Following a delayed start (no one woke me up!!) I surfaced on deck to find smoko in full swing. The others had to eat another cooked breakfast (a hard life) and had a sail setting talk while I snoozed.

Smoko was followed by Happy Hour, luckily I was on the helm so just watched everyone else clean.

I finished my watch promptly when second sitting lunch was called (well I had missed breakfast). Quiet time followed with everyone making the most of the sunshine and calm seas. A group of us ventured out on to the bow sprit to soak up the rays.

At 4pm we headed to sail setting stations to hand the sails for the final time. 6 sails had to be handed, very hard work in the baking sun. Then we all donned harnesses and went aloft to harbour stow, fore watches up the fore mast and aft watches up the main mast. Many cuts and bruises later the sails were stowed neatly.

The pilots told us where to anchor Tenacious for the night and we all celebrated with engineers punch (it had a wicked kick). This was followed by curry night on deck.

Thanks to all the crew for their efforts, love a now dry Ed (hedgehog extraordinaire!)
