Today we left Kristiansand to start the second leg of the tall ships race.
We participated in a parade of sail at mid day and then made our way off shore to the starting line. Half an hour before it began we experienced setting the sails for the first time. We set 20 out of 21 sails and we were the second to cross the line, at 17:10. Within a few minutes we found that due to the amount of canvas and strength of wind we were walking sideways (some of us not even managing that and almost falling flat on our faces!).
Before long the pack spread out and apart from a rather close encounter with the Pogoria everything so far has been relativly calm (including stomachs, for now!) The latest forecast is indicating light winds for the next few days. Currently heading straight for Denmark but are due to tack round and set course for the UK within the next few hours.
