This morning we hauled away the anchor
And set sail for adventures far and wide
After bracing the yards, and hauling the lines.
We prayed the wind would be on our side.
Aoife ran up the stroud, as fast as her legs would go
To unfurl the top sail,
the T’Gallant and Royal
While the rest of us hauled far below.
The crew worked together to set up the sails
Whilst Nat told us tales of being the ‘Winch Wench’
Then happy hour took over the Lord Nelson
We cleaned and scrubbed to remove any stench
The ship sailed on with serene and beautiful seas
Whilst the crew kept watch, slept or read
The horizon stayed calm, the sea birds flew high
Whilst Annette and crew made sure we were fed
As our watch grew to a close up on the bridge
Ballet lessons and eye spy had kept us alert
We leave now for rest, lessons and dinner
We shall return at midnight ‘til 4 to become more expert.
From the forward starboard watch, Janice, Fie, Pauline J, Nat, Annette, Aoife Sarah.
