The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), the UK based international sailing charity is setting sail for France this autumn offering people the chance to set sail as crew on 2 voyages where up to 40 people can experience the thrill and adventure of tall ship sailing, regardless of their physical ability.
The Trust, set up over 30 years ago, provides sailing adventures for people over the age of 16 (with no upper age limit). These voyages integrate able bodied and disabled crews of amateur sailors under the guidance of professionals on voyages to a variety of fascinating destinations.
The Trust owns two ships, Tenacious and her sister ship, Lord Nelson which are the only tall ships in the world purpose designed and built to enable able bodied and disabled sailors to sail side by side as equals.
Joining the ship in Southampton, crewmembers have the chance to try their hand at some off shore sailing and can also enjoy the serenity of a cruise along the river Seine. Here they can take in the beautiful French countryside and experience some of the local hospitality Rouen is renound for.
Joining the ship in Rouen you can get aquainted to life aboard and enjoy the river cruise before heading out into the open sea past the white cliffs of Dover and onward to the Chatham.
Paula Plummer, Voyage Coordination Manager at the JST said, “This will be a unique experience for anyone wanting to take on a challenge. The JST is all about equality and integration. Young or old, able bodied or disabled, all are welcome to sail with us.” She continued, “The upcoming voyages are certainly a great opportunity for people to try their hand at something new.”
Voyage 1: LN 733 Southampton – Rouen, 26th Sept – 03rd October (8 days)
