It's Christmas Eve and Tenacious and her crew are well on their way to the Caribbean. The winds have picked up and we are making good time with most sails set and doing their job well. The swell has increased dramatically after many days of calmer waters

Where to start? Christmas Day was amazing, slightly strange though. Lunch was superb, as always, and everyone had a good time. A few of us headed to the beach to work off our lunch and then came back to join in with the ongoing celebrations on the boat.

24th December 2010 today we woke up to see La Palma in our sights and the tip of Mount Teide, covered in snow, clearly visible on Tenerife. The estimated time of arrival on La Palma was around 11.30 which everyone was excited about

23rd December 2010 today has been much better than yesterday; we started off with breakfast at 8am with three times as many people present than last night’s supper. All in all the crew were much happier, with only the odd one or two still feeling a little dodgy

Great excitement as today was the day we set sail. Not literally, to start with – leaving the quayside was the usual technical affair, with a team of 4 (Nina, Jenny, Dave and Tim) on the land to let off the mooring lines and set us free.

The day started bright and early the voyage crew on LN 759 were all woken at 07.00 to pack their luggage in the hopes that flights would be able to take them from the Canaries back to snowbound Britain.

Another glorious day in tropical waters, so hot in fact that we`d love to jump in and swim. Nat has just been testing the fire hoses and anyone lucky enough to get in the way was able to get welcome relief from the heat.

We started the day on watch weather not so good a bit breezy one would say but thoroughly enjoyed the movement of the ship a few felt unwell but we all carried on with duties on board sails had to be changed a few times lot of work with the ropes quite challenging a very busy day.

We set sail at 2oclock, aft port was on watch when we left. heading for la palma, we set sails and made steedy progress into the night 8knots at one ponit.

Spots of rain in the night but woke up to a fine day. We are some 200 miles north of the Cape Verde islands which we will skirt on the way to the Caribbean.

It was a long day with two watches from 0800 to 1230 and then from 2000 to 2400 for Aft Port. The clocks were put back and the extra hour was filled with a quiz which was won by Forward Port.

Thursday 9th December. Our big news is that we finally set sail yeste rday afternoon leaving Las Palmas, head on in a strong south west win d but with a great sunset and views of the island.

I can honestly say that I had no idea how many ways one can fly to Las Palmas! Because of the dreadful weather in the UK (deep snow over most of the country), subsequently most of the UK's airports were either closed or so crowded with a backlog of passengers, that a lot of the joining crew were held up in transit or unable to get flights out!!
