We’ve had mixed sailing and motoring in light winds and strong currents since Friday. The winds were perfect to set all the square sails and the spanker.

The ship is gleaming,and awaiting the voyage crew for LN792 to join this afternoon. As we have had a week alongside, the hull has also been smartened up and lots of rigging jobs attended to. Below decks a small army of electricians and carpenters have been scurrying through the spaces that contain the wiring etc that keep us going.

Departing Jersey midday-ish on Tuesday, we set sail towards Dieppe. Much sail handling - up 'n down, up 'n down, up 'n down - gave us a speed of up to 8 knots.

Monday saw us with a lot less rough seas - much to every one's delight. We knew that soon after breakfast we would be docked alongside in Jersey. After the ship was shipshape, and Happy Hour most of the crew headed ashore.

After two days of force 6 to 7 winds and bumpy seas, with at least two members of the watch spending the time in their bunks and others refusing even Graham's food, we were on watch from 2000 to midnight in beautiful conditions last night.

Today was saw quite an unusal event in the annals of daily life. We were moving along quite nicely under the watchful eye of Chris (Mate) Officer of the watch, when our watch leader Dai was struck down a vicious attack of Mal de Mer.

We weighed the anchor at 10 am in Rosslare after a peaceful night. We motor-sailed southwards until early afternoon when the wind veered and we were able to set square sails. A school of dolphins was sighted and played in our bow wave for quite some time.

So far so good new voyage crew lots of people have enjoyed going out on the yards & climbing the masts. Dublin bathed in sunshine but has clouded over later in the day.

Morning all. Just a short update,as we are alongside in Canary Wharf for a while. We had a great motor up the Thames on Wednesday,after a lumpy,bumpy night at sea and anchoring off Southend at 0200.

What a great weekend. We have been a part of the annual Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival,which has seen some amazing acts – including the NO FIT STATE CIRCUS from Cardiff. They were totally amazing.

Last night was spent at sea, the wind got up in the evening, so we handed the t'gallants at midnight and by breakfast we were in sight of the Hills of Wicklow. With the wind gusting to 30 knots we sailed into Scotsman's bay at great speed with one lonely Jib powering us on, and anchored off Dun Laoghaire in the sunshine and watched the yacht racing.

We are beautifully berthed alongside in Great Yarmouth,having risen from our bunks at 06.45 to raise the anchor,strip the bunks and enjoy our bacon butties. Then it was hands to harbour stations once the pilot had come aboard.

There we were at Scarborough, feels like we’ve been at sea for weeks! First time in Scarborough for most people. Blue skies and sunshine on Lord Nelson but getting into the tender we needed full oilies. What lovely British weather!

We are just about to sail off the anchor from Scarborough , where we have had an enjoyable two nights, sheltering from the storm. On Monday night we were very happy to be tucked in here, and yesterday morning even more so!

A wonderful night watch 2000 – 2400hrs saw Forward starboard watch stargazing at the amazing shooting stars, and the Milky Way just added to the star spectacular.

We lifted the anchor as we left Felixstow to head to Scarborough .We are undersail on watch 18:00-20:00, we have had to clean the ship .the engineer had made a light under the bar to go to get supplies, and I had a DRINK OF POP FROM THE BAR AND A FRUIT AND NUT BAR OF CHOCOLATE .

With a few hungover bodies after an thoroughly enjoyable, social and “Kwaking” night out in town we left Zeebrugge around noon by the time we hade made it through the canal and locks. Then we heard the cry of “pirates off the port bow” as we saw the square rigged schooner Jantje round the head of the harbour waving at us in a Jolly Roger way.

We've been sailing for a few days now and, having rounded Land's End are now heading across towards Ireland. This required some heavy ropework from Forward Starboard Watch around midnight as we braced the sails to begin heading North.

We set off from Poole at around 2030 hours last night. It was our watch that took the ship out of Poole harbour and down past Sandbanks and Brownsea Island. On setting off we had Sarah steering the ship with the Pilot giving directions.

So yesterday, youth leadership @ sea were set an amazing challenge. We had to get a bucket of water from the bottom of the main mast, up and across to the fore mast and down, safely. Let’s just say, we had a splash!
