Up at crack of dawn(ish) after 8-midnight watch. Fantastic calm night with a starry starry night worthy of a poets touch. Put up loads of sails whilst pretending to understand what all the bits of rope were for and trying not to breathe too heavily.

Sunset on the bridge at 8.30 pm whilst on the 8-12 watch. Relaxing day, still sailing, 10th in the race, favourable winds persist.

We had to do watch from midnite to 4am, it was fun! we drove the ship for awahile @ 8mph! we have decided to call the teddy in the bar "Nelson "!!!!!!! ;)

We came off the high seas, chased by pirates, to avoid engagement with the notorious Black Pearl. Our female captain and crew, with a token gesture of menfolk, turned into the River Seine to enjoy the idyllic French countryside.

On arriving in La Coruna we were met by an ambulance who took our extra, temporary passenger to be checked out at the hospital. We went ashore that night and found some lively streets and alley ways with plenty of bars, a good opportunity to unwind for all.

Forward port watch . Overnight at anchor off the Isle of Wight, set off Tuesday morning in rather a grim weather outlook but all excited and cheery about our day's adventures at sea.

A peaceful night with occasional squalls, we kept full sa il and continued to make good progress. Maximum speed 8.2 knots, minimum 3.2 knots. Many other race vessels have been sighted and we are waiting for race control to confirm our position with respect to them.

We started racing today, crossing the start line at 07 24 after having to wake up at 06 00 to set the sails. We had bacon butties for breakfast, which we shared with our new resident/mascot, Terry the racing pigeon, who is going to bring us good luck.

Been a cracking trip so far. Great to see so many tall ships all gat hered together in Saint Malo with some very tuneful crew members whom we endeavoured to soak with water bombs!!
