We joined Tenacious on Saturday in Monaco - she looked quite small compared with the huge gin palaces. But of course - much more beautiful with her yards outlined against the sky (not that we are biased or anything).

T'was not a dark and stormy night … well, it was quite dark. But not too stormy. Okay, not stormy at all, and not windy. In fact, the winds were so light that at 10pm we had to hand all the sails.

Forward port watch - This morning we rounded cape Corse the northern tip of Corsica, and set 11 sails in rapid time. We were then alerted to sightings of Whales or maybe one very active whale, blowing a water about just ahead of us.

On our first watch of Sunday 10th March, we managed to achieve an ignoble speed of 1.5 knots, but this did not impress our illustrious Captain who promptly called ‘all hands’ to set more sail, which brought us back to an acceptable sailing speed.

The Lord Nelson is now in Durban about to embark on STW 3 which will take it and 28 voyage crew to Cochin in Kerala province of SW India. Crews started to arrive from 27th Feb which were mainly Watch Leaders and those whose travel plans meant an early arrival.
