The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) is pleased to announce its two magnificent tall ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious, are to visit Jersey in May and July 2009.
There are also opportunities to sail aboard these spectacular vessels on voyages to and from the island and even a day sail experience on offer.
Lord Nelson will be arriving in port to participate in the Jersey Boat Show 2nd – 4th May 2009. During its short visit to the island the ship will be open to the public to come aboard and explore this fascinating vessel.
Lord Nelson’s inbound voyage from Southampton arrives on the 2nd May, returning to Falmouth on the 4th May.
Tenacious arrives in St Helier on 2nd July on a voyage that sailed from Poole. She sets off again on the 5th July bound for London.
The Jubilee Sailing Trust is also delighted to offer the public the opportunity to sail as voyage crew in a day sail around Jersey on Saturday 4th July.
The day sail provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to try their hand at sailing the ship, or for businesses to sponsor an individual or individuals to become part of the ship’s crew for the day.
A day sail aboard Tenacious costs just £125 per person. This includes all food and refreshments. During the day, people will be able to take part in a variety of tasks on board. For those feeling particularly brave, there may even be the chance to climb the masts to take a look at the Island from the best viewpoint on the ship.
Tenacious is a 65 metre, purpose-built ship that has been designed specifically to be crewed by teams of both disabled and able-bodied people. Among the many design features which have been integrated into the vessel are flat, wide decks to facilitate access for wheelchair users, lifts between decks for those with limited mobility and a speaking compass to enable blind and visually impaired crew to take the helm.
