Dr Ruth Padday nominated for 'Light up your life'

Last week Dr Ruth Padday was nominated for a comptetition called 'Light up Your Life', for BBC Solent's Julian Clegg show.  Whereby the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) were invited to nominate a member of the community that lights up people's lives.  Dr Ruth Padday is a volunteer at the JST helping out the office and sails as a Doctor.  She also works as a part time Doctor, has a demanding family life and set up a youth clinic which has been extremely succesful.  We were more than happy to nominate Ruth and felt she would be a great nominee.

Dr Ruth won the nomination and was asked to light the flame to start proceeding for Saturday 13th November 2010.  The event attracted more than 15,000 people to Southampton’s Guildhall Square for its official launch during the weekend (November 12 and 13).

Residents and visitors saw French fire alchemists Compagnie Carabosse transform the newly refurbished square into a magical fire garden on Friday and Saturday evening. Guildhall Square was brought to life with dancing fire sculptures, mysterious fiery engines and cascades of candles.
