A team from the JST office went off to play Wheelchair Laser Tag recently. It's alot harder than it looks! You are given lightweight sports wheelchairs to use - which are amazing and incredibly manoeuvrable, a laser gun and a hat with the laser targets attached. Teams of six take part in a pyramid competition - until eventually there is an overall winner. Here's our team:
The problem is that you once you have whizzed round and got into position behind a large inflatable something, you then have to grab your gun and by the time you have done that your target has vanished and someone else has shot you. So you put the gun down on your knee and spin off to find another victim (meanwhile almost certainly becoming someone else's victim - or is is just me that was so bad at it?) Of course you do get better at it at each round, but it didn't seem that any of us stayed alive for very long.
Here we are in action:
You don't have to be disabled to take part and it is a fantastic leveller as it is just as challenging for everyone to manage the wheelchair and the gun. Very much in the spirit of JST for people of all physical abilities to compete as equals. I highly recommend having a go if you get the chance - the company does team-building, parties and corporate events.
Here's one of our opponents:
Emma and Tina (Sarah didn't think the hats were very flattering)
