Nellie's voyage crew raise £400 from a hair cut!

Dated: 14/01/2012

Almost half way through our voyage, and we are all feeling the love; the love of the sea, the love of the ship - and are at times overwhelmed by the enormity of the experience and the immense work the charity does.

In this spirit, Graeme and I decided that some kind of fund raising might be in order. So we were decided to do something that could be executed and completed on board, and to do something a little outrageous.

Just as the sun glinted on Graeme’s head of lovely thick dark hair, an idea struck!

First let’s dye it, Blond! and second lets cut it into a Mohican! – agreed primarily by our watch. Leah, who is super organised, took on the fund raising.

After a quick swim on BBQ night, Graeme covered in towels and with a glass of red wine to hand, had his hair dyed. Sadly the planned-for blond look took on more of a strawberry-blond-orange look. We had also slightly overlooked the need for hairdressing scissors.  Luckily Cookie Dave came to our rescue with the kitchen scissors and Bob happened to have an electric beard razor with him, so we improvised!  Results of which I’m really quite pleased with.

Thanks to everybody’s generosity we managed to raise over £400.00 which is absolutely fantastic and what's more Graeme has a fabulous new look – I however won’t give up the day job just yet!!
