Painting of tall ship Tenacious silently auctioned to raise funds for JST
The picture shows marine artist Ron Moortgat standing next to the painting of Tenacious that he most generouly painted as way of celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
The painting was sold by silent auction on board Tenacious during the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on 3rd June, with all proceeds going towards the work of the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
Ron is a fellow of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and he lives in Belgium.
He said just before the auction; "I would like to see my painting sold to be in someone's living room so that they can look at ship and be reminded of how it is helping others be part of scciety. I did this painting with great pleasure because of what the idea stands for".
Ron works with W.H Patterson Ltd, fine art dealers in London.
