Jubilee Sailing Trust to benefit from Motcomb Street Party

Dated: 27/06/2008

The Organising Committee of the world-renowned Motcomb Street Party have just announced that the JST will yet again be one of two Charities to benefit from their 2008 event.

This famous annual fundraising street party held in July has been going for over 21 years in Knightsbridge, London, and attracts some 5,000 visitors turning this normally sleepy part of London into a fun filled riot of colour, music and entertainment including auctions, raffles, food, drink and dancing until the small hours.

July's event, at which 30 - 40 volunteers from the JST branch the 2/6 Heavers will be assisting, will be held on Wednesday 9th of July, and everyone will be welcome.

This annual fund raising event is organised by the Belgravia Business Association and features a host of activities from live music from bands like the Rolling Clones, who perform classic Rolling Stones hits to traditional street entertainers. There are plenty of activities for the young and young at heart along with a feast of delicious food and drink.

The Motcomb Street Party is one of London’s biggest street parties and regularly attracts over 5,000 people and last year this popular event raised a whopping £34,000 for two charities.

On the day, mingle with the celebrities who regularly attend, or meet the local business owners and their employees as you soak up the amazing atmosphere of this famous fund raising event. Best of all while you relax and enjoy yourself you know that you are helping two worth while causes.

This is the 23rd year that this popular event has been running and once again organisers are pulling out all the stops to make sure that it will be even bigger and better than ever before.

The Jubilee Sailing Trust would like to say a huge thank you to the Motcomb Street Party Committee for choosing the Jubilee Sailing Trust again as one of their charities.

Mr Allen Chubb, Motcomb Street Party Committee Member said, “The Committee are really excited about this year’s party. Jubilee Sailing Trust is an amazing charity that has changed the lives of thousands of people and needs our support so that it can continue its mission.”

Amanda Butcher Chief Executive of the Jubilee Sailing Trust said, “We are extremely grateful to be chosen as one of the Motcomb Street Party charities again, as last year we saw at first hand the incredible work undertaken by the organising Committee and the business's of Belgravia. Thanks to their efforts the Motcomb Street Party is both a major fundraiser for good causes and a fantastic day out.”

She added, “The money raised at this event will help us continue our work of integrating people of all physical abilities on board our tall ships LORD NELSON and TENACIOUS.”

So come and join the festivities, which start at 5.30pm on Wednesday 4th July.
