- PRESS RELEASE - Seasoned Jubilee Sailing Trust voyage crew member, Tony Wiggins, 72, will be sailing into the PSP Southampton Boat Show on the evening of Saturday 12th September.
As a voyage crew member on board Lord Nelson, one of Jubilee Sailing Trusts' two tall ships, this trip is nothing new to Tony. It is, however, for his granddaughter Victoria, 18, who will be sailing on the same voyage.
Arriving at the boat show at the end of a 7 day voyage from Great Yarmouth the pair will make up part of the 40 strong voyage crew. This crew will comprise a mixture of able bodied and disabled people all with varying degrees of sailing experience.
For Victoria this will be her first voyage, having spent years hearing her Grandfather talk about his experiences with Jubilee Sailing Trust.
When Tony describes watching the dolphins riding the Bow of the ship he explains, “I can’t think of anything better than the experience that you get on board either of the Trusts ships. The companionship on board is terrific and sailing with Jubilee Sailing Trust has fulfilled a lifelong dream.”
Victoria has been accepted onto the voyage as part of Jubilee Sailing Trust’s Leadership at Sea scheme which will see her helming the ship blindfolded and using the adaptations on board the ship to get around in a wheelchair for the day.
If you want a chance to see what life is like on board Lord Nelson she will be open to members of the public from 10am until 4pm on Sunday 13th September and until the boat show finishes on Sunday 20th September.
Tickets from £13.00 for adults can be purchased at: https://boatshow.seatemwebservices.com/southampton/ShowList.aspx.
10% of proceeds will go to Jubilee Sailing Trust.
