Mayor of Poole Invites You to Reception on Tenacious

Dated: 23/05/2008

On Saturday 14th June the Mayor of Poole, Mrs Joyce Lavender is inviting people to join her for an evening reception aboard the magnificent tall ship Tenacious which will be berthed at Town Quay.

Tenacious, which is owned and operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) is the largest wooden tall ship of her kind to be built in the UK in the last 100 years. Apart from being a remarkable ship, she is one of only two tall ships that have been purpose designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to crew the ship on year round trips side by side as equals.

Costing over £14 million to build, since her maiden voyage in September 2000 she has taken over 6,658 people to sea, of these over 2,547 have been physically disabled and 875 have been wheelchair users.

The Mayor is holding this much coveted event in order to raise money for seven local charities that are close to her heart, one of which is the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Guests can expect to be treated to a fabulous evening of drinks and canapés all served aboard the fantastic venue of a grand square rigger.

The evening reception runs from 7pm - 9pm and is open to all. Tickets are £25 and can be purchased from the Mayors Office. With only 50 tickets available for what is set to be a highlight of the city’s social calendar this year, be sure to secure your place today.

For more information or to book your tickets for the Mayors evening reception, please call Jo or Jenny on 01202 633200 or 01202 633039 or email j.clements@poole.gov.uk
