01/03/12 - Tenacious
Dated: 05/03/2012
After joining Tenacious in the picturesque marina of Falmouth harbour in Antigua it was first things first, food! A delightful buffet was put on for everyone at the mainmast and everyone began to mingle and get to know each other, some rum punch may also have been involved! In the evening we were free to go ashore and sample some of the local culture.. rum!
Yesterday morning was all hands on deck for 08.00 and breakfast was to be served by cookie Dave. Afterwards we had out introduction talks by Ali, Ronan and Steve which was followed by some essential training which we needed to undertake before we were able to go to sea!
At 14.00 with all our training complete, the engines were powered up and the shore lines were slipped, we were now bound for St Lucia, Marigot bay.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of sail setting and becoming accustom to everything moving, the walls the ground even the ceiling! Most people were ok but some became victims of sea sickness but Nurse Ronan was on hand.
We are now sailing in comfortable seas and everyone sends their regards to family members
