Woke up this morning at anchor off Weymouth. No trips ashore though, there’s a tall ship to be sailed! After a substantial breakfast (again) the captain called "all hands on deck to make sail!" and completely without any use of our engines we raised the anchor and then hoisted sail.
Although the mist was still in evidence we built up a good speed under square sails only. After three weeks at sea it is still an exhilarating experience to be under sail.
By early afternoon the mist had cleared, revealing the very pretty coast of Dorset on our port beam. With a warm sun, a gentle breeze and calm seas we might be tired, but we’re all content making our way to the Isle of Wight.
Alan, Port Forward Watch.
