01/10/11 - Tenacious

Dated: 06/10/2011

After all duties were finished our watch (FP) disembarked for the picturesque town of Dieppe. Having wandered along the harbour front & gazed into the various interesting shops we retired to a local bar to enjoy the local delights including watching the numerous dog walkers. Our libations finished we wandered round the older parts of the town where we visited the Canadian memorial commemorating the abortive raid in August 1942. Above the memorial was an old castle that had beautiful gardens. We had the pleasure of visiting another 3 masted ship where the watch had its photo taken. (It was ashore in a children's playground) After this we wandered slowly back to the harbour side to choose a restaurant for an evening meal. For 8 people this was not quite as easy as you would think but we did eventually find an establishment that met all our requirements and enjoyed an excellent meal.
Afterwards we wandered back to the ship where the stream of local visitors to view the ship was still in full swing. A great run ashore with a great group of guys.
The following morning we had our voyage and watch photos with the backdrop of the Tenacious. Later there were assisted climbs, which were a great success. At around midday the pilot boarded and preparations were made to depart. Leaving Dieppe, bathed in sunshine, we made our way slowly back out to sea. We had many spectators to wish us Bon Voyage! We are currently underway bound for the port of Cherbourg and hoping to pick up a sailing wind to put the icing on the cake.
Adam, Ant, Chris, Damien, Jane, Marion, Sean and our gifted watch leader Sue.
