03/01/12 - Tenacious

Voyage 332 Day 4
Today we set sail. Captain Barbara sent us off in grand style by sailing off the berth with a blind helmsman. There is no record of what the pilot thought of this manoeuvre. Even before reaching the harbour entrance we had
5 sails set and were making good progress. Lunch was served soon after reaching open water and while most of the crew were in the lower mess deck Forward Port had the thrill of seeing a pod of pilot whales pass close on the starboard side. 4pm watch change saw the setting of TENACIOUS' brand new mainsail. Unfortunately we got our buntlines caught in our cringles and it took Glenn a while to overhaul them before it was properly set. We now have all square sails set and are making good progress towards our destination 3000 miles away.
Forward Port
