03/02/13 - Tenacious

Today we were sailing extremely calmly as we had a lot of time to get to
Syracuse. When we finally got there we had to have a pilot direct us into
port .
It was very interesting going in as the area is a natural harbour and our
captain decided to reverse onto our mooring.
This certainly impressed all the by- standers ashore and the lines men who
worked for the port and who were ready to take our lines.
Soon as the gangway was secured the voyage crew went into the town to
explore.
This port is steeped in Greek and Roman history
In the evening some of us had a great meal of roast beef with all the
trimmings on board while others took to the town for a local Italian meal
