The rain in Spain… is drizzling mainly on Las Palmas today. After a cloudy day yesterday, we have a grey, damp one.. not what we want! However , it hasn’t dampened the spirits of our trusty volunteers … who are out there chipping and needle gunning to their hearts content. It is impressive to see how much has been achieved so far…. And the work continues below decks , with skills being used in other areas. Geoff is measuring up in the focsle , to make easier access to the top bunks , which can be a tad challenging to get into at sea, and is sanding and varnishing the lee boards . Kumi and co are in the bilges below the bar space, chipping away , with a big fresh air vent pumping down cool air. Claudia has become my PA , and is at the laptop , sorting out spead sheets and number crunching… Betty has set up in the bar with her sewing machine and will endeavour to make the bunk curtains a uniform length , amongst other things. Up in the galley , a happy team are scraping , chopping , stirring … keeping the team well fed three times a day… not an easy task , when we number 37 onboard at present. So it is action stations here , with smokos and lunch hour to catch up with each other and pleasant evenings in the bar or ashore. Let’s hope the sun shines again soon ! Regards Jane MP
