Back to the ship update blog

04/02/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 06/02/2012

Today's sunshine seemed far from our minds as we had our watch last night from 2000 hours to 0000 as we travelled between La Gomera and Tenerife and got caught in the middle of Force 8 winds which was NOT pleasant! The only consolation was that it was dry and we could see the stars as well as a few planets. Those who weren't on watch didn't escape as they were being tossed in their bunks and could hear lots of banging from various parts of the ship-which made us thankful for our lee cloths! (Flaps to keep us in bed) We've now anchored off Gran Canaria and all is well :) Later on, one of the crew will be hoisted aloft to play her guitar from the crow's nest-a Spanish siren serenading us! We've been told that there will be a BBQ and the chance to swim off the ship later so we're looking forward to that as well as the 'sundowners'! I have the luck of being a watchleader in that I do the full 4 hours later on (0000-0400) but my watch get some beauty sleep!
