Anchoring off Brixham is so attractive that we are to remain here until to morrow (Friday, day 5) morning when the plan is to weigh anchor at 7am.
Last night whilst lying to anchor second mate John held a quiz night. Five teams participated - one of each watch and the fifth of permanent crew "the great unwatched" who, naturally, were the winners.
There were anchor watches throughout the night. What a relief not to be disturbed by banging doors and a plunging ship driving over what appeared to be sleeping policemen as had been the experience the night before.
Morning came with the spare parts for the steering gear. Now after sterling work by the engineering team (we have three engineers on board) the steering gear is fully in working order.
Even though in the shelter of Torbay we have had a force seven for much of the day the ship lies quite quietly to her port anchor.
This morning after happy hour and smoko second mate John gave an interesting and informative talk on meterology and this afternoon bosun's mate Mike has been demonstrating knots.
It is fish pie for dinner tonight so it is time to prepare for that with a visit to the bar.
