5/2/11

It's nearly 6am on Saturday and we are anchored in Little Bay, Monseratt. We arrived on Thursday evening after a very pleasanrt crossing from Antigua. We were given shore leave on Friday, The Mate, Steve, arranged a taxi tour of the island with 'Beep Beep'. It was amazing to see the devastation caused by the volcano!

We had a fairly traditional carrabean meal and then visited the Volcano observatory. Some of us went for a swim followed by a well recieved beer before rejoining the ship. Getting from the DOTI boat onto the ladder was interesting with the swell!

Steve and Mr Chipps, the engineers, invited us on deck for pre-dinner Mohito's, we watched the sun set, gently swaying in the swell, 26 degrees with a welcome breeze, who said life isn't good! We came on watch at 4 am just as there was a heavy shower!

The sun is just about to come up and we intend to weigh anchor at 0900 to head towards Guadeloupe.

Aft Port watch.
