Back to the ship update blog

05/03/2011 - Tenacious

Dated: 07/03/2011

Friday saw happy hour cancelled because of strong wind and lively movement.

Catering was difficult but Philippa excelled themselves and roast lamb was followed by treacle sponge. Sails were handed just after dusk and the night watches enjoyed winds of upto 46kn from the North East. The heading is now directly towards Bermuda with estimated arrival on Sunday morning. The 1000 miles from Antigua was passed today.

Today, Saturday, is sunny and the wind has dropped to 25kn. Again no formal happy hour but Ronan lead an assault on the heads. There has been a diasappointing lack of marine life to see. Everyone is well apart from the odd bruise caused by unexpected ship movement tho' we are now short of desert bowls.....

The air and sea temperatures have fallen steadily as we've headed north and trousers are now prevelant with coats when on watch to prevent wind chill.

It's curried fish for dinner tonight and the aft port watch - your correspondents - have the 0000-0400 watch tomorrow morning.
