Behold! The continuing tales of the good ship Tenacious!
We departed Boulogne just after lunch on the 6th. I was looking forward to setting some sails, but the sea was as calm as the harbour! We were under power the whole journey across the channel. It was amazing to see both the French and British coasts at the same time and think how MUCH traffic has to pass through here!
We dropped anchor just off the town of Deal at 19:15. I had to go on anchor watch from 20:00 till midnight. There's not so much to see outside, but I was still busy, checking ranges on the radar to fixed points every 15 minutes. Nice to know we're not going to hit anything...
After a snooze, we sailed off the anchor after at about 09:15 on Saturday 07 May, to head around the North Foreland. Finally, I got to pull some ropes!
THIS is what I call sailing!
Mid-morning smoko consisted of some amazing birthday cake for Sharon. After that, I was on Brasso duty for Happy Hour. How clean can one piece of brass possibly be??? Still, nothing a bit of elbow grease can't solve!
At 12:30 I went to bridge for my watch. Straight away, I took the helm, steering a course given to me by the previous watch. I'd never steered Tenacious before! This was fantastic!
After an hour, I stopped helming, and here I still sit, on watch, making sure any vessels I see get reported to the bridge. Who knows what excitement this evening may hold????
