Back to the ship update blog

09/02/13 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 09/02/2013

On Saturdaymorning many donned foul weather gear for the arrival in Simonstown. It was awet wet morning. The mist hovered as we came into port with Richard assistingMarcin on the doti boat. The mist slowly lifted to a sunshine filled afternoonand everyone headed into town.

The FP (barAlan, plus Emma)took advantage of the Fals Bay yacht club’s invitation and haddrinks on solid ground. Alan eventually found us (blast) and offered relief inwheeling chairs up and down and up and down the hills of Simonstown. Our groupdined at the Harbour Restaurant which satisfied our taste buds: beer, wine, soda, yellowtail, ostrich, springbok, mussels, calamari, chocolate mousse cake!Yum! We also learned that a South African Iced Coffee’s secret ingredient issoft served ice-cream. Who knew!

Many peoplegot up to nonsense at the 2’6 pence pub. Soccer and rugby matches had manypeople cheering and some celebrating. Brandon was pool shark and Versha receivedflowers from a SA navy man. Our stroll back onto the quay offered a magnificentview of the ship lit up against the calm waters and sky. The night watch waseventful, just because Charlene was there. This lot did not have trouble gettinglost at sea…. The shore had more pubs and obstacles.
