09/03/12 - Lord Nelson

9th March,We had a good night at sea -mostly under motor as the wind dropped, it was an easterly wind. Bringing the Calima - a fog of sand which stuck to every thing, and blocked out the sun in the evening, as it came round from the South of Gran Canaria... the ship will need a good scrub before any maintenance next week. We arrived at the pier heads at 13:00, and in very hot sun we came starboard side to, at 14.00. So we are along side in Las Palmas, - many making good use of Club Naughty, and we are off to the Wok tonight for our last night meal. Everyone JST 'old' and 'new' seem sad to go, and plans are being made for future sails and maintenance meetings, Finally , we were all sad to bid farewell to our 1st Mate, Barry, who is leaving us to further his career in engineering, but meanwhile is flying out to Tenacious for a spot of pirates of the Caribbean, as Captain! Good luck, and fair winds Barry!!
