09/07/12 - Lord Nelson

Been a cracking trip so far. Great to see so many tall ships all gat hered together in Saint Malo with some very tuneful crew members whom we endeavoured to soak with water bombs!!The crowds cheered all the b oats as we passed through the lock and out into the harbour which was really enjoyable and made us feel like royalty. Since then we have be en motoring for the start line which is 180 miles from Saint Malo. W e practiced bracing the yard arms today and had roast beef for dinner . Did my first watch as watch leader this evening from 1800-2000 with the Forward port watch (probably the best watch in the world :) so fa r so good! We are all really looking forward to the start of the rac e on Tuesday morning, lots of sailing and lots of ships, I predict Lo rd Nelson in 1st place!! Watch this space!!
