10/09/11 - Tenacious

Dated: 12/09/2011

Last night was spent at sea, the wind got up in the evening, so we handed the t'gallants at midnight and by breakfast we were in sight of the Hills of Wicklow. With the wind gusting to 30 knots we sailed into Scotsman's bay at great speed with one lonely Jib powering us on, and anchored off Dun Laoghaire in the sunshine and watched the yacht racing. Forward Port watch are pleased to report we are all well and vertical and looking longingly at shore, smelling but not tasting the Guinness. We have very high hopes for tomorrow.

Tenacious and all her merry crew are currently somewhere near the head of Pembrokeshire. For much of the day we have had a lot of cloud , a little bit of rain, some thunder and lightning and even some sunshine. Windspeeds have been about 15-20 knots and the sea has been a bit choppy. The stars of the afternoon have been THE DOLPHINS.......we had about 20 off the starboard bow. So magical and such a privilege to see them ...even though we were hauling ropes and setting sails at the time.
We're now enjoying Hammie's lovely cake and cups of tea with a bit of sunshine too.

Helen Outen ( Forward starboard watch)
