11/07/12 - Tenacious
Dated: 12/07/2012
Forward port watch . Overnight at anchor off the Isle of Wight, set off Tuesday morning in rather a grim weather outlook but all excited and cheery about our day's adventures at sea. Plan changed from Bruges to Caudebec on the Seine due to strong south westerlies which would hamper our return. Though disappointed not to go the historic Belgian city, we are excited about the new destination.
After weighing anchor early, we motored to a point from where we could sail.
We set the inner and outer jibs, main and fore courses, lower and upper topsails, mizzen staysail and spanker.
Since setting sail, some of the crew have been struck by sickness, requiring the medical pursers attention - Sailing is absolutely stunning -a fine speed of 7 knots with the setting sun to our starboard side. Folk below enjoying fish pie and ginger crumble. Due to anchor around midnight so two watches needed, we'll be there, France tomorrow.
