11/12/11 - Tenacious

Dated: 12/12/2011

Aft Starboard
Saturday morning we left the quay side watched by a crowd of locals, some with donated eye patches. We braced the sails full to port ready for a full day's sailing. Unfortunately as we made it out into open sea we found that the wind was gusting at 35knots and it was a "little" bumpy. The Bosun's mates plus one lucky voyage crew member ascended to the yards and stowed 3 of the main sails. The rest of us sat down to an enjoyable lunch which was a stir fry. We then had to re-brace full to starboard to stop the ship from rocking and make our journey more stable. We motored our way parallel to the northern coast of Tenerife through the night and should arrive at the port of Santa Cruz at around midday.
