Joining day for the voyage back to England. By 6.00 p.m. everyone was aboard and Captain Neil and the permanent crew were able to give their various briefings. It was good to see all the professional crew looking smart in their uniforms. That was when we learnt that the likely weather conditions mean we will not be able to reach the Azores. Instead it will be somewhere in southern Ireland, so I’ll get to drink real Guinness at long last! This does mean around two weeks at sea before we get there of course. That should be the life-changing experience I was told to expect!
Tonight most of the voyage crew are going ashore for the big last night of the local festival. It’s called 'The Burial of the Sardine’, so if anyone stays sober enough to remember what that is all about you might hear tomorrow!
