This morning we departed from the Calmac Quay at Tobermory at 10.05 and headed out into the Sound of Mull. Before departure a bagpiper was playing on the quayside. The inflatable launch was used to supply a turning force to direct the hull of the Lord Nelson away from the quay and an initial separation. We then slipped away from the quayside and turned around to the starboard side and set a course down the main channel.
Soon afterwards Lesley led a team aloft to stow away the sails neatly. A group of four dolphins were spotted to the port side in the area close to the Fishnish to Loch Aline ferry crossing point. A variety of vessels passed us including the MV Lord of the Isles and a team of divers in a large brown and white launch showed particular interest in following us around for a few minutes. After a splendid lunch of leek and potato casserole supplied by Derek the chef and his assistant Ann, we continued the voyage past Lady Rock lighthouse and approached Oban harbour soon after 15.00.
