13/03/12 - Tenacious
Dated: 14/03/2012
Tuesday 13 March
After a hearty Sunday roast on Monday, we retired to bed to catch a bit of sleep before the call to come on watch at midnight. We were met by a shower of rain before the wind picked up and the sky cleared. We had a pleasant sail with St Kitts, Nevis and Statia on the port side and St Barts to starboard. As we returned to our bunks, Sint Maartin (Dutch side) could be seen ahead. Between the islands, large cruise ships moved back and forth and by breakfast time six had been counted entering Philipsburg, no doubt doubling the population for the day.
Before lunch we handed quite a lot of sail in order to slow down - we are planning to anchor at Virgin Gorda tomorrow morning and a visit to the Pussers rum distillery may be on the cards for some.
Forward Port.
