Yesterday was sunshine and showers but today the weather became much clearer so that by the afternoon we were bathing in gentle autumn sunshine. The wind however was not so gentle being a sprightly force 5 to 6.
During the morning we had sailed in the middle of the Irish Sea beyond the traffic separation zones near Anglesey then down past Dublin Bay. We were sailing beautifully with forecourse, foretopsail and fore t'gallant up plus the main topsail and the main t'gallant plus a jib and the main staysail.
Just after a wonderful cock-a-leekie soup and Ali's homemade bread for lunch we prepared to change course by wearing (i.e. gybing - for all yachties). So afer a lot of hard work bracing and putting sails up and down, and up and down, we turned smoothly back to Dublin Bay.
It has been wonderful, amazing sailing weather today. And now we are looking forward to spending some time in Dublin and sampling some of their famous dark stout.
Yipee! Forward Starboard Watch.
