Day 5: Another day in La Palma and lots of voyage crew off on a tour - they visited two National Parks, a volcano and a lovely little chapel but everyone agrees the highlight of the day was the fantastic lunch in a wine barrel with a chandelier made of wine bottles. the food was pretty good too!

The remainder went off to the beach. except for 4 brave "Go-Aper's" who decided to climb up a mountain, including cliff climbing, tunnelling and getting stuck half way down! They had to turn back the way they came and no one knew if they would make it back in one piece! Thankfully they made it back safe and sound after a local took pity and gave them water before ordering them a taxi! They had just enough time for a swim before dinner, with nothing but some sunburn and scratches. they had the best views of the entire island when they made it to the "nipple" at the top and we're all waiting to see the photos. what an adventure!

After showers and dinner most of the crew headed into town for jamon, queso and cerveza before getting some sleep in preparation for our early start today.

Everyone was up at 0600 this morning to get away from La Palma before sunrise. After a beautiful sunrise Headless Fred, with his new head, fell overboard and poor David drew the short straw and had to go in after him to brink him safely back to the ship.

We're now under almost full sails and slowly making our way to Gomera, where we will spend another night in harbour. Everyone is having a really great time and sorry to see the days passing so quickly!

We will leave you with a few messages for back home:
