We safely reached the Seine Basin, with the help of the French pilot and much to our chagrin the winds did not pick up. We motored west, in hope of finding more favourable sailing weather and true to form we got the sails up just after 4 o'clock. Our passage across the channel was peaceful and well-helmed and we were in a good position to continue sailing through the night. We played with the sails a few times, with each of the night watches adjusting the canvases to the changing conditions.
On waking, we found the ship at a considerable heel, which made breakfast a challenge (more of a food fight than a meal!) but we were making good steady progress along our desired course.
Later in the day the decision was made to put the sails away and, as we type, we are powering towards home. Our plan is to anchor at St Helen's and enjoy our last evening with new friends.
