Back to the ship update blog
16/09/11 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 16/09/2011
Morning all.
Just a short update,as we are alongside in Canary Wharf for a while. We had a great motor up the Thames on Wednesday, after a lumpy, bumpy night at sea and anchoring off Southend at 0200.
We had a quiet period Wednesday morning until the tide turned and was favourable to help us down the river. It was amazing to glide under QE bridge, looking up and holding our breath as it seemed the main mast must touch the bridge,..which ofcourse it didn’t !
Capt. Neil then negotiated the lock beautifully and we came alongside at around 15.00 hours. The office blocks surrounding us glinting in the sun ,and busy people scurrying around, all very different to Great Yarmouth and other coastal places that we have seen this summer.
Thanks a lot to our little band of volunteers, who helped crew us here, and to those that have stayed to assist in the all important maintenance that we are now doing. Everyone is mucking in with essential cleaning, repairs and joinery.
The next voyage crew join us here on 22nd September, so we will be shipshape again for them, and ready for another fun voyage. There are still a few available places, so come and join us if you can spare the time. Hopefully we will catch the end of summer, although today is cooler , but dry so far.
So, back to the linen cupboard for me !
