Back to the ship update blog

17/01/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 17/01/2012

Good morning from Santa Catalina, and the new voyage crew of voyage 802.
They all arrived on time, to be greeted by bright sunshine and blue skies, and their Watch Leaders standing to attention at the top of the gangway .Once the formality of signing onto ships articles, handing over passports and getting wet weather gear was over, it was time for another cup of tea before the essential briefings. These were enough to keep everyone safe overnight, and the bigger picture emerges this morning, with Chris, the Mate, about to begin.
We are an almost full crew, and there was a buzz about the decks last night as people mingled, and got to know each other, The plan today is to do some climbing in the rigging for those who are confident, and agile enough to do so with minimal assistance, and we hope to leave the berth at 14.00.
At present we have a light shower of rain, the first in a couple of weeks, but the forecast seems kind. As we are all about sailing, we aim to spend the next two nights at sea, and to head for La Gomera.
So, watch this space for voyage crew updates, and thank you to all our lovely maintainers, who are safely home again, what would we do without you ?
