17/06/12 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 17/06/2012
An early start today to get ready for the day sail from Poole town quay.
Bacon rolls were served on deck in the glorious morning sunshine, followed by a briefing.
Passengers arrived at 0830 and were welcomed on to Lord Nelson. After the Pilot had boarded we motored out of Poole harbour heading south which provided some fantastic views of Swanage and Old Harry Rocks. The crew helped set the fore course & topsail and the engines were switched off.
After a great lunch, served by Dave and his glamorous team we wore ship and headed across the bay with the increasing sea breeze. As we approached Bournemouth we were joined by 4-5 dolphins for a few minutes, I had a great view from the foremast! Myself and the other BM's went aloft to harbour stow the sails as we motored back in to Poole. With all the wet weather over the last few days we felt very lucky to have such a warm sunny day (I may get my legs out tomorrow!). Once the ship was alongside we cleaned her from bow to aft and ensured she was sparkling for the voyage starting tomorrow.
Right....must be time for bed before another early start tomorrow.
