17/08/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 20/08/2012

LN 823 16 - 17th August
We are now situated just north of the bay of Biscay. We had an evening watch last night from 8.00 to 12.00pm. The ship is being subjected to improved weather since leaving the Bay. Last night Tom M took over as watch leader as part of his youth leadership at sea scheme. We had Brendan on a port side watch for the majority of the watch, with everyone else rotating in observational positions. Everyone had a bash on the helm with Sarah and Andrew taking the longer stint. Logs were taken on the hour every hour by all watch members.

There was another watch at 12.00 to 16.00 today and during this watch Brendan was in charge. There was a fire drill for the permanant staff. The appearance of three whales finished off the watch in a spectacular fashion. The food is still exceptional despite the choppy conditions. All is well on the Lord Nelson and the finish line draws ever closer.
