17th Dec In maintenance Submarine Base near Rio.
Well after the end of STW1 eventually all the voyage crew have gone ashore and departed for either some time in Rio or flown back home.
Meanwhile on board work goes on, amidst the occasional visitors and press there has been much work carried out on the ship, the air con work continues as does the deckhouse painting. Yesterday Kyle and Tony (2 more from help the Heroes, or service charities) have joined us shocked with the dramatic temperature difference between Northern Europe and the tropics, closely followed by Joyce the new Bosun’s mate replacing Neil aka the parrot. Today Alan one of the next voyages’ (STW11) watch leaders arrived, and we eagerly await the rest of the voyage crew who are joining in the next day or so. Then prepare for Christmas and set sail for the Brazilian coast, who knows where Captain Barbara will take us.
