Back to the ship update blog

18/12/11 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 20/12/2011

Hello from Lisbon, the temperature here is around 14 degrees so a bit warmer than in the UK, the sun is shinning and no snow in sight.
Yesterday saw the voyage crew arriving from various parts; some have come from Madeira others flew in from the UK. A few had a couple of days in Lisbon prior to joining the ship. Yesterday evening we had the permanent crew introductions. this voyage is Captain Neil's last voyage. Various briefings were given by the mate. This morning we have had the evacuation practice and drill and we are now instructing the voyage crew how to climb aloft safely. The crew are looking forward to setting sail. We aim to be in La Palma for Christmas Eve so have to make an average speed of over 5 knots, the engines might well need to be used.
The decorating elves have been at work and there are decorations in the Upper and lower mess and in the bar even the captains cabin did not escape!
