20/01/13 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 22/01/2013
This morning after the morning meeting all square sail was set bar the main course. At 11.50, the wind having freshened to a north easterly force 5, the engines were switched off so at last we are really sailing. We have a blue sea with small white caps; heeled over to starboard with a gentle pitching.
There is somthing beautiful about a silent ship! No engine noise! It's bliss!
The romantic noise of the wind blowing through the holes making there soleful tones reminds us all why we came here in the first place! TO SAIL!!
Tonight see's the start of our cribige league and so far AS has an easy route into the next round bar Gareth who has to play Will! Lets hope some begginers luck is in play.
The rations of fresh food is drastically running thin and Derick and Mona have had too come up with other ways of keeping scurvy at bay! Still there are plenty of limes to chew upon so we are living up to our limey roots!
Brian has just soptted a bird as we speak! Quite what bird it is hard to tell but looks like a small gull! For it to be this far off a shore it has flow 1000 plus miles to come say hello to Nelly!
S.E.B not bird watching is aiding the permenant crew take the noon site! All this expirence on the Sextants is just mind boggling! Well it is for Gareth (EBEE) who slept though the demonstration!
Later we are going to be given instruction on the bosuns call given under the guidance of Aled! We can't wait!
In the words of Porky himself, thats all for now folks!
